Multi-Company Name Key

2018 Hi my name is Mike on behalf of Hoosier Energy. We have two different companies in GP having two separate installs on two different servers. One environment setup for one company is called Hoosier and another environment setup for the other company called Holland. Normally when we purchase our registration keys, we have two separate files. One for the Hoosier company and another for the Holland company.  This has been ongoing from Great Plains v10, v2010, v2015, and v2016. But for some reason for v2018, I am seeing only a Hoosier register set for all Hoosier with only a reference of Holland  titled "Multi-Company Name" with key contained in one line (normally GP has 3-4 lines of keys). I logged in to our Microsoft account to try to find a Holland file with the licensing information, as we do not see anything for Holland. Only the Hoosier environment with the Holland Multi-Company Name I referenced above. Could you please help me figure out how to register our Holland company as our Hoosier company is registered.  P.S. the Filters for this forum did not have GP 2018 so I selected GP 2016 but really this issue is for GP 2018.

There is a way to link all of your companies under one login. I believe it's just the profile in each "inviting" you with the same email account.

    Hi Mike,

    Glad to know it's sorted.

I don't know if this is what you meant by multiple logins for each company but here is what I see when I log into Partnersource or Customersource once I go into anything specific to a company. I.E. I can have 1 login and choose which entity I want to get keys from.

Typically when I log in and am looking at generic info like downloads, I don't get propmted for this but as soon as I go into any company specific location (keys, profiles, users) I am prompted to re-confirm which entity I want to query. I am a partner (soon to be former partner), worked with another partner who gave me access and have accounts with my employer + two other former customers in their CustomerSource list. In your case you should be able to get to having Hoosier and Holland as two items on your list too if the email address with your profiles is the same. It might require a re-invite to trigger it though.

I got this resolved. I founded out that my boss had another login account to used that she didn't remember to use to get our Holland register keys. So now I know that when having separate companies, that you will be given multiple logins for each company.

Update: the filter is fixed and now shows GP 2018 and older versions have been removed. Thanks for pointing it out, sometimes people don't notice these things if they don't use the "ask a question" feature ourselves!

Do you know if you used to have to select a different company to log into entirely in CustomerSource before? I.E. did both entities have a different customer number? I can't actually get into CustomerSource or Partnersource at all (coincidentally!) but when I log in I have to choose which company I'm logging in for, as I had my own consulting firm, plus some clients that I was set up under their accounts as a professional. I don't know if you ever had that, where you log into either Hoosier or Holland first (or did you just have an option for different keys within "1" customer)?

The reason I ask is if the companies were considered separate "customers", maybe check that you are listed as a professional on both customer accounts (in case something got removed that you used to have access to). It could be something like that as well.

Thank you for your reply. Yes we purchase them twice. But normally we login and can see both of them choosing which company we want the licenses emailed to us. But for some reason (we have never seen before) our other company Holland ( has a reference on our other company which doesn't make sense). This is why I was so confused because they are always separate. I am having my boss escalate the issue up further so I can finish installing the GP environment.

PS I've submitted a note to Microsoft about the filter drop down list. GP 2018 should definitely be listed!!!

    Hi Mike,

I would check with your partner, they would be best to follow up on this one with Microsoft for you. If that's not an option, I would open a ticket in CustomerSource, a license question should be non-chargeable I would think. If you had separate keys all this time, you must have "purchased" it twice to have that so the records should be there for someone to reference and resolve for you. Each license is technically for one installation, hence my assumption that if you have 2 separate production environments, you must have purchased the licenses that way to accommodate having different keys for each.
