Sales trial problems

The documentation does not the field names on the current version  of the software. This has been the worst trial I've seen to date but the vision of how it can work keeps me at it. Otherwise, I would quit and go back to Hubspot which is infinitely easier to use. I cannot even import contact records. As mentioned, the names in the documentation do not match the software. I get errors that my records do not match to allow the import even though I have downloaded a Dynamics spreadsheet.

Also, the welcome video gives a call/chat option which is non existent. How do I ask for help?

I recognize this note seems ignorant but the info provided is out of sync

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

    I'm sorry for your experience.

Can you please share which documentation you are referring to, most of the documentation mentions the version it is valid for.

For the error you encounter, can you please share a screenshot and steps you are performing.

Also, Dynamics 365 has various application to access different features.

Please go to https://home.dynamics.com/ to see various applications. You should see chat options in Customer Service apps.

    Happy to help.

    Best,

    Wahaj

I'm using the Sales Professional version of the software with the documentation entitled "Learn 365 Sales Professional".  It gives the following instructions as an example:

    1. In the site map, select Sales Settings. Under Standard settings, select Import data.

    2. On the Import Data page, in the Data Type drop-down list, select the record type you want to import the data for. In the File Type drop-down list, select Excel, and then select Start Import.

    3. Select Browse to upload a file.

    4. Select Next.

    5. All the fields in your source file are automatically mapped. Select Finish Import.

The settings referenced do not exist. There's no drop down list.

    Thanks

    Hi,

It seems like you have signed up for the Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise Trial.

Please note, Microsoft has created different front-end applications for Dynamics 365 Sales Professional and Sales Enterprises.

The correct learning for Enterprise version is the following:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/learn/paths/working-with-dynamics-365-sales/

    Best,

    Wahaj

I appreciate your response but whether it's a lead or contact I cannot bulk import my existing records. The "wizard" does not appear anywhere either. I've gone back and forth between safari and chrome and it doesnt make any difference. Your documentation leads me to believe that they are both compatable. I have ensured there are content blockers or pop up blockers on either as well. Thanks

    Hi Shane,

I'm sorry for your unpleasant experience.

I just signed up for a free trial of Dynamics 365 Sales Professional and followed the documentation to test importing, in my environmenrt I can see all the settings referenced.

    Here is my test process.

    1. Go to Advanced Settings > Data Management > Templates for Data Import, select Contact and download.

    pastedimage1597116078370v3.png

You can also directly create a new Excel file and add some records, ensure that the names of all columns in Excel are the same as the display names of the fields of the Contact entity.

    2. Edit the template and add some records.

    3. Follow the steps of documentation to import the template into Sales Professional.

If you still cannot see settings referenced, you can import data in the Advanced Settings > Data Management > Imports.

Thank you for your response. It worked in the sense I could submit contacts but it rejected 50 out of 51 which stated the company name reference did not work. Not sure how to fix this since a new contact has a company name to go with it. The column field required using “company name” . If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks

    Hi Shane,

    1. Could you check if the mapping is correct when importing excel?

After uploading the excel, there is Review Mapping option in the next step,

    pastedimage1597223263910v1.png

Here we need to check if the mapping of Company Name field is Company Name (Lookup).

    pastedimage1597223348144v2.png

    2. When we enter the data into the Company Name column, we must ensure that the company name entered is exactly the same as the display name of the Account record, and there can be no slight differences.

So I recommend that you copy the name of the Account record and paste it into Excel instead of manually typing it in to prevent any difference.

    Hi Shane,

Are you importing contacts to match with existing account records? have a look a this www.youtube.com/watch

If you want to create a new records it is not required excel template to be downloaded. Prepare your data in Excel and change the excel sheet to CSV file type. The CSV file type considered to be creating a new records in CRM, Map to contact entity which is straight forward process.
