In NAV there was default dimension code that we used, but i can't seem to find it in Business central. There is something called linked dimension but we do need to have the opportunity to change the default so linked is not really the answer for us. Anyone have a solution?
Hello,
I believe you want to mark mandatory Global Dimension 1 and Global dimension 2 for your all the transactions. Go to the default Account dimension code and select the related tables e.g., Customer, Vendor, Item, G/L Account and based on that you can select the dimension mandatory.
You can set the default dimension for the GD1 and GD2, because it's not make any sense to mark the default dimension for the dimension itself.
This is same way of working available in Navision as well.
You can try this and let me know if you have any issues. I believe this will helpful to you.
Thank you,
Mandatory fields for new customers
For that you can use the
ShowMandatory = true;
in the list or card page and it will give you the asterisks on that field and if you not fill the field it will give you the error message.
Thank You.
Thank you for the answer.
specifically, i want to put default dimensions to our global dimension 1 code and the default needs to be a global dimension 2 code. However, in the object tables the default dimension table is not an option
You still have the default dimensions in Business Central.
It is just being added more functionality to this area than what you had in Dynamics NAV.
I can not remember any functionality in Business Central being called linked dimensions. Do you have any customizations in your system?
Hi, is this it?
Hi Yun
It's more the default dimension for the dimensions so it's applying default dimensions to other dimensions. 8 know there is linked dimensions but the problem with linked dimensions is that the rule does not have to apply for each transaction

Hi, is the following what you are looking for? Open from the master data, such as Customer, Vendor, Item, Chart of Account, is the Default dimensions.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
