Greetings - I'm looking for the best and most efficient method to handle this scenario.......
I (TEST) upgraded GPV9 from a SQL2000 server to a new SQL2008 server and upgraded to GP2010.
We then conducted user testing for 2-3 weeks. We configured Security in GP2010 and everything has been tested to satisfaction.
So now - I need to save my security settings and re-do the upgrade.
What's the best method to repeat the process? I basically need to update (copy over the GP9 databases) into my fully functioning SQL 2008 server and re-do the upgrade.
Is it best to delete all my SQL2008 databases (I have 13 company databases) and re-create them as I did the first time? Or can I leave them and try to restore a GP2010 database with GP9 data?
How about the Dynamics database? I want to save my security settings - can I delete the dynamics database - have system re-create and then simply restore from backup? Will security be saved?
I think I need to.........
1. Delete the GP2010 databases, including Dynamics (after backing up dynamics).
2. Re-create the Dynamics Database - using GP utilities
3. Create the 13 companies using SQL (like I did previously)
4. Restore the 13 new SQL databases from GP9 backups.
5. Run Ultilites and Upgrade the databases
Any other guidance or insight?
