GP 10 with Crystal Reports 10/11

Hi,

I need your suggestion on Crystal Reports versioning.

With reference to GP 10, in most of the places we used Crystal reports 10 and in one place a client is insisted to use Crystal Reports 11 version only.  When i am trying to write vba code to access Crystal reports 11, we need to have 11 Developer version and iam facing lot of problems.

Is it adviceable to use Crystal Reports 11 with GP 10?

With this client i developed a GP Addin using Visual Studio Tools for Microsoft Dynamics GP (Used Visual Studio 2005).

Now, there is less or no support for VS2005 with CR 11. There are some reports printing from GP Addin.

Please send your suggestion to deal with this situation. My client has asked that CR 11 CD is shipped with GP10 pack so he wants to use CR11 only.

Which version is best suited for GP10 to interface with Crystal Reports (10 or 11) using VBA.

Your valuable suggestions Please.

Advance Thanks

Regards

Akbar Khan

As Mariano says, GP really does not 'care' what Crystal version you are using since it is not doing anything Crystal specific out-of-the-box.

Your dilemma is one of the reasons we made our GP Reports Viewer be Crystal version independent.  Our clients can use all the Crystal reports they have, no matter what version they were written in, including older versions as well as Crystal 2008.

I know this doesn't answer the question of how to do this with VS2005 or VBA, and unfortunately, I do not have an answer for that, but if a 3rd party product is an option instead of having to re-develop what you have, please take a look at GP Reports Viewer:  http://www.flex-solutions.com/gpreports.html.

Actually you can use either CR10 or 11 at your vba depend on which is installed at client machine. You may change the version at client by change reference dll with minimun changes of your code. I think CRAXDRT is CR10 and CRAXDDRT for CR11. The report rpt file could be design in either version and both of the dll can open it. You also can directly export your report to pdf file to display.
