Belgium : the voucher series is not attached to a posting journal

Hello everyone,

We were blocked by this error message when trying to post a packing slip in a Belgian localization (legal entity with address in Belgium): " Posting failed : voucher series is not attached to a posting journal".

Turns out that in Belgium, you have "posting journal report" and the system (Dynamics 365 version 10.0.10) is blocking you if you don't link your number sequence of the voucher and a posting journal.

So nothing hard to do:

  1. Go to General ledger / setup/ journals/ journal name
  2. Create a journal
  3. Link it to your number sequence

Then you will be able to post!

Hope it helps someone out there.

Regards,

Thomas Vansiliette

    Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your solution, but actually, this is a wrong implementation.

You have to go to General Ledger > Journal setup > Posting journals. This option is part of the Belgian localization. You have to create a new posting journal here and link the voucher series per year.

Then also set the field Journal type to the correct value for all voucher series and also the journal names. This is required for the Belgian reporting.

The journal name creation will also create the posting journal automatically, but you can skip the journal names for all subledger vouchers.

Correct André, thanks for noticing the typo in my post! Fortunately, I did configure the posting journal.

Could you tell me more about these reports?

If I understand correctly, this setup is categorizing the voucher series in journal and enable the CFO to get categorized information (sales, purchase, financial, other).

However, I don't understand why D365 would block the posting of a packing slip because the reporting is not setup...

    Hi Thomas,

Belgian implementations is a while ago for me. There are some regulatory reports which indeed look at the Journal type field. Apart from this, the posting journals controls which voucher series will be used on what date. So, you can manage the requirement to have a specific number series per year.

Because of the number sequence requirements in Belgium, the posting is blocked, unless you do this setup.

    Hi André,

    Thanks for the answer.

Well what is strange is that in 10.0.6, the posting journal was not present and packing slip posting was not blocked.

Since the update in 10.0.10, we had to create the posting journal.

    Regards,

    Thomas
