BYOD data export batch job slowing down system?

Hello Experts

We are facing issues with the warehouse system being slow while releasing the sales orders to the warehouse from the sales order screen. Also, our warehouse guns which run on android apps also slow down drastically while picking. Scans take too much time.  LCS shows DTU is holding at 8% and above throughout the day, normally it's between 1-2%. We have around 40 BYOD batch jobs running throughout the day, from which some batch jobs are running multiple times every hour. Does BYOD batch jobs slow down the system?

Thank you,

Hitesh

    Hi Hitesh,

BYOD batch jobs can slow down the system like any other job. I had issues because of BYOD exports (mainly it was because heavy frequent exports were timeout and new export was scheduled, but prev. one was still running on the backend and not canceled)

What kind of entities are you using (custom, standard, and how complex they are)? Do you use full push or incremental push (primary table or all tables)? Do you use export in all companies?

Have you tried to shut-down BYOD batch jobs (you can set up one batch group for all of them and remove servers from a batch group) to check if it's really the case?

Also, have you also try to build reports from LCS (for example top CPU consuming queries)?

    Hi Hitesh,

If the batch jobs are running on regular interval recurrences especially integration jobs or high load jobs they are bound slow down the environment. However, please check the configuration on number of Batch servers you have and how the batches are distributed.

It also depends on the DIXF entities used in each project and is there a mix of standard and custom entities. Is there a problem where DIXF related batches are failing

Check the environment monitoring System Memory telemetry if there is any high utilization on specific batch server during specific time. Then you can check the batch jobs running during the time frame and optimize accordingly.

These points are in addition to what Sergei has already mentioned.

    Regards,

    Clive Purushothaman.
