Intercompany production order

Hello, 

I need to be able to place a sales order in one company and make a 2nd. company to produce as maquila the goods then send them back to first company to do a sell.

is there any available training documentation available to achieve this?

    There is a lot available online for this, but it might be fragmented, so let me give you a brief high level description.

    --

    First you need to set up the product in the production company as a produced item, with BOM and route +++. Then release this to your sales company as well.

    Set up the inter company policies between the companies. First add your manufacturing company as vendor in you sales company and your sales company as a customer in the manufacturing company. Make sure you use the global address book entries that is related to the legal entities! A quick check on this is that the org.no. is not available on the customer record.

    Now on the customer or vendor record you set up the inter company stuff. Please find some online reference to this. Lachlan Cash has probably made something regarding this.

    Now that items and inter company is set, you need to decide if you want to manually create your purchase orders (in sales comp.) and production orders (in manuf.comp.) or let master plan handle it... Set up master plan or get a routine for handling manual creation.  You need to set up master planning in both companies and also inter company master plan. Create a sales order in the sales company and then run IC master plan... Purchase order in sales company is created and sales order with related production order is created in production site... As well as missing raw materials. Delays in production will be automatically marked as delays (futures) in sales.

    I have a similar challenge to the one described here, but including product configuration. The company I work for sell highly configurable products through sales companies all over the world. That sales order then needs to be purchased through intercompany from a production company. I would like to carry the unique BOM, created by the product configuration back to the production company through IC. Do you know if that's possible?
