I have two problem after my project management setup. Posting setups are done by category relation. 1- when I consume material I do see the cost in expense account used for Category expense. However in ledger posting Cost item ,there is no account for expense account. I am using item journal type as project. I dont know whether somethşng else should be used 2-when i post man hour in hour journal, i see the man hour cost is credited in the category hour account. however it should be debited thank you in advance

Hello Mike,

Can you share the transaction voucher (incl. the posting types) that is used when posting the matieral consumption?

Do you make use of a project with P&L or with WIP accounting? If you use the latter, please check also the WIP posting types and setups made in the project module.

What kind of project type do you work with? (FP, T&M, etc.)

What about your project group that is linked to your project? How is this group setup especially the ledger integration?

I removed groups from posting profile, but still it did not work.

In my scenario, main accounts change per category relation not with project group. ,

But I just found the solution to post item category for the given accounts.

In ledger posting, If I enter category item under Cost tab, it works when I consume material.

However, If I only enter item category under "Cost-item" tab, it does not work.

I was expecting that the system would check the cost-item tab for consumed material, but it is checking Cost tab

That's the standard behavior for projects that do not make use of WIP accounting. The cost-item posting type is used only when you post your item costs (temporarily) to a WIP account.

For internal projects that record your expenses, this posting type won't be used.
