What is the difference between the Amount field and the Line Amount Field in the Sales Line Table?

We just implemented dynamics 365 Business Central and I am working in Jet Data Manager through the BC Adapter.  Can anyone share what the difference is between these two fields in the Sales Line Table, [Amount] and [Line Amount]?  They appear to hold the same content but I am not sure.

Thank you

Amount is used for the VAT or Tax calculation. The "Line Amount" is the quantity * unit price. So the latter is what users are used to working with when it comes to reviewing the sales documents which use the sales line table.
