Data Encryption in AX 2012 R3

Hi,

One of our client have requirement related to the encryption of data for the information like

financial, personal data, Credit card info, customer account details.

Do such feature is available in AX 2012 R3?

    Do such feature is available in AX 2012 R3?

    The answer is 'No'. In standard AX the data simply goes in tables and anyone can query those and can see.

    Additional Information

    Ax supports encryption and decryption of data, but of course not for existing tables Microsoft has not encrypted it

    Its seems a huge task to encrypt whole data of 'financial' not an easy task. there are numberless classes tables. My verdict , in any case like this, will be 'NO'

    You can use the CryptoAPI class in AX 2012.

    • If we have to save encrypted data in a table field, the data type for that field should be CryptoBlob

    • Now my mind, is asking, while keeping in mind the question of post, that how ‘financial’ data will be encrypted

    • Let’s say financial data goes into table GeneralJournalAccountEntry, how come I would replace current fields of this table and will add fields of type CryptoBlob, so that new fields can handle my encypted data.

    • Of course current field of table cannot save encrypted data as those are Int,Real, Str

    • A clear example is SysEmailSMTPPassword(Table) and Password(filed).

    • so should we add new fields in all tables of financials or create new tables to manage whole ax finance????

    Agree with Sohaib,

    For some data the CryptoAPI can be used, but not for all data. When the security roles are correctly applied, there will be no unauthorized access on this data using AX. So then there is no need to encrypt.

    Note that direct access to the SQL database will provide the contents, but that access should be limited to DBA's.

    Microsoft do recommend encrypting such data and do offer a solution: Transparent Data Encryption.
