Importing data into a custom table without a data entity

We have a custom page in our D365FO environment. A custom table was created for this page, and this page is used to add and update records to the custom table.

I have an excel sheet with over 4000 records that need to be entered into the custom table. However, the table was created without a data entity, and I've tried almost every method to create a data entity but it won't work out in a way that allows me to import the records via Data Management.

Is there any way to insert the 4000 records into that table without a data entity?

I have the same question (0)

You could develop custom code doing somehting similar to data management, but I think the right course of action is learning how to create data entities. This is an important skill to have.

Please tell us about your problems with data entity development.

Do you have access to SQL server?  If yes, you can try ' Importing Flat file' option .

That's a very bad idea. For example, it wouldn't assign RecIds. If you have no RecIds in the file, nothing will be imported. If you do, you'll import something, but you'll end up with inconsistent database. The result may be, for example, that you won't be able to insert anything to the table in AX anymore, because the next record ID generated by AX will already exists (in your imported records).

It would also bypass all AX business logic, such as making sure that the data relations are consistent.

    Never do such a thing.
