Confirming max number of remaining fields/columns available to add to a given entity/table

Hi folks,

I've searched in vein online for a more recent answer to this question.

Basically, one of our users have seemingly ran into their max limit of attributes/fields/columns that they're able to add to their 'contact' entity/table within their dynamics environment.
i.e. when they attempt to add a new column, they are getting the following error:  current number of filtered view attributes of 1001 will exceed the maximum limi of 1000 for entity 'contact.  Attribute cannot be created.

I note from a 2018 dynamics forum post (here) that the underlying SQL server dictates the max limit of columns that can be added to a given entity/table ... however in that explanation the limit mentioned is 1024, however in the above noted error that we're seeing, the max limit is 1000.

1. Can someone help point me to the latest MS documentation which specifies where I can confirm what the actual limit should be, per enttiy/table, for the number of columns that can be added?
Also, while I note from that same forum post linked above that there are different capacities depending on the the type of column (e.g. 'lookup' columns are equivalent to x3 'text' columns, 'choice' columns are equivalent to x2 'text' columns, etc), that answer was provided back in 2018, and for all I know the max limit has since been raised for dynamics entity/tables, so would really appreciate if anyone has any additional information to share on this.

2. Is there any tool (e.g. XRMToolbox?) that we might be able to use to easily identify what remaining column spaces are left for a given entity?

The main /types of fields/ in the MS documentation site (here) doesn't specify (a) what the actual max limit for columns in an entity/table is, or (b) how the different column types impact on the amount of available space left for adding new columns.

Thanks,
Liam

    I've found another 3rd party website that seemingly confirms the max limit is 1000 (see here: https://crm.berotak.com/max-number-of-fields-for-an-entity-in-dynamics-crm) however it would be great if there was confirmation from Microsoft documentation.

    Found another article (note: not formal MS documentation) which also seems to confirm the max limit per (most) entity/table is 1,000 columns (but varies depending on the different column types used):

    Max Entity Fields should be calculated as follows: X *3 + Y*2 + Z*1 <= 1,000 columns
    Where:
    •X is the number of Lookup Fields
    •Y is the number of Option Set / Boolean / Money fields
    •Z is the number of fields from other types
