Back by popular demand we have the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2020 Year-End Blog series and what a year this will be!
We have a lot of changes to talk about this year. Typically with an election year, we do not see a lot of movement, but of course like anything else, 2020 is an odd year and we have LOTS of change.
I would say, after this year end most of our customers with the template issue, Payables form change and payroll, will all will be current on year end updates which means it will be BUSY for everyone to get all this done in a short period of time, so we need patience to get thru everything and planning is key.
The Year-End Update is always scheduled to be released mid-November. We release this update in November to ensure you have plenty of time to install prior to year-end. In Support, we are often asked if it is OK to install the Year-End Update even though 2020 payrolls are not completely processed. The answer to that is YES YOU CAN! We release the update early so you have plenty of time to install it!
This update is all inclusive of prior updates for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2016 and Microsoft Dynamics GP. This means it will include 18.2 and 18.3 if you are currently not on this version.
As always, we want to make it as easy as possible for you! The Microsoft Dynamics GP Support Team will be publishing blog articles with year-end closing information to assist you with planning for a smooth year-end close. These articles include general questions about year-end processes for that module, and any changes that may affect your Year-End processes for the 2020 year.
The U.S Year-End has released, check out the blog of versions and list of changes.
Below is the schedule of upcoming blog posts that I know will be useful to you:

Notes:
If you notice account numbers printing funny on reports (example trial balance) or users crashing when printing reports, it could be a damaged report.dic or form.dic from the update.
Due to table changes with 18.3 release for General Ledger, after applying any update, you should Reconfigure change tracking for your MR Data Mart. This is located In the Management Reporter Configuration Console, under the data mart integration, Reconfigure change tracking.
If you receive an error message during the utilities update, when you install the 2020 U.S. Year-end Update released 11/19/2020 Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PKPM00204'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.PM00204' follow the Known Upgrade blog for a workaround.
