I have created a flow to execute on create/update of record in custom entity via Powerapps Portal.
It is a very basic flow and works fine second time on create or update. However, after lest say few hours, if I create a record, it won't trigger till I manually go and update the record in dynamics crm.
My initial thought was to update the first step to "When a record is created or updated", but I cannot find this step anymore.
Can someone please suggest why it is behaving like this and if their is any workaround?
There is on action called "Created or updated" as of now in Flow.
Your screenshot show you chose an action for "Update"
Did you create two different flows for create and update? (Ideally you should do this if you want flow to trigger on both the actions)
For now, based on the screenshot, this flow will trigger only on the update.
Thanks ba365guy for your reply.
In that scenario, can you please suggest, why the flow triggers on create?
I cannot find any action for "created or updated" for Dynamics 365
Hey that was typo. I meant "no action"
Even though you have your triggering point as "Update", your flow is triggering on create (from second time) - right?
Do you have any asynchronous process on create of your record, does it update the same record. Can you confirm if there are any processes / plugin/ scripts that are updating these (synch. / Asynch)
Can you check your audit history to check if any update happened
Apologies, took me few minutes to enable the auditing and test.
My form is divided into 5 steps on the portal and it seems like as the user progresses forward, the record is created in the first step.
The information provided by the user in 2nd and 3rd step is registered as an update which triggers my flow. Audit histroy SS below
So far it all make sense.
However, after a span of few hours, the exact same behaviour does not trigger the Flow on the first instance. I will be happy to post that history when I will reproduce it in few hours.
There is no process/WF/script on this entity, which may trigger any updates. It is all managed via this flow.
Are all the logs tagged as "Update" because of your flow?
One of the log has your name in it. (how did this update happened)
I have a tick box on the record which is un-ticked when the record is created. As I want my flow to run only once, the last step it does it come back and tick the box. that is where my name is in the audit history (Last step of the flow).
So, is your query resolved?
After enabling my audit history, the flow is working as expected. I haven't made any other change. If I am able to reproduce it, I will post it here again. Thanks for all your help. I have marked your response of enabling audit as answer.
