Can Omnichannel for Customer Service work for a client that uses D365 in a hybrid or on-premises fashion?

Thank you, I understand now that Omnichannel is not supported with on-premises Dynamics 365. Say an on-premises company is open to a hybrid solution, but is unwilling to switch fully to the Cloud. Is there a hybrid solution including Omnichannel that could work for them?
Currently, I have not found any document that mentions whether Omnichannel for Customer Service work in a hybrid solution.
