Our client is finding the time to auto generate a work order (blue line) to create the recurring bookings is too long.
Has anyone created a flow to create the multiple bookings from the Plan Dates generated by the Recurring Booking configuration?
The yellow line is the path I want to travel - We don't need the Work Orders created, we create invoices directly from the Bookings.
cant you use the option to generate bookings in advance?
We set the generate bookings in advance to 365 by default but this does not help. The time to generate the Work Order is the problem
The definition of this field: msdyn_generatewodaysinadvance: Specify how many days in advance of the Booking Date the system should automatically generate a Work Order
This requires the field: msdyn_autogeneratewo to be set to Yes
This is my finding, happy for anyone to correct me but frustrated with the time for auto generation to actually generate the bookings.
Maybe I misunderstand, so please correct me :)
When you first create a complete Agreement Booking Setup and set the Agreement as "Active", then the Agreement Booking Dates will generate within a few minutes, then after that, correct, it can take up to a few hours for the Agreement Bookings Dates to generate the Work Orders. If curious, you can find the workflow session related to the Agreement Booking Date, and see when it is scheduled for.
I find that almost as soon as the Work Order is generates it will be booked - if "Auto Generate Booking" is set to 'Yes'.
After the Agreement Booking Dates have started to generate Work Orders, they should generate in the pattern specified - i.e. if the Agreement Booking Setup is configured to generate a Work Order once every day, then every day a new Work Order will be generated, the amount of days in advance, that's configured on the Agreement Booking Setup. If it's set to generate a Work Order every week, then it will generate once a week.
So what is it that you find takes a long time?
It it the time from activating the Agreement Booking Setup, until the Work Order is generated? Is it the time from the Work Order is generated until it is booked?Or something else.
What setting you have for Booking creation on the below page

These are default settings, that will be used if nothing is specified on the Agreement/Agreement Booking Setup, for a specific setting - so if some of this is configured directly on the Agreement/Agreement Booking Setup, it will override settings from the screenshot.
Further explanation of the settings, can be found here:https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/field-service/configure-default-settings#agreements
