In AX 2012 Management Reporter, we used to be able to control the permission to view the report by using the Report Library Permissions. Does this still exist in D365 Enterprise? If not, how can one control the viewer permission on individual reports or a group of reports? Thanks.
You can view financial reports from the following moduler:
When you select the menu item Financial reports, previous generated reports are available.
From the menu item Option - Security the Security Rolls and Dutys that Grant access are displayed.
Thanks Sten. I can see the OPTIONS tab > Page options > Security Diagnostics. From there I can see the roles and privileges. I think that shows what role allows the user to access the reports. But in the previous versions of Management Reporter, there is the ability to control permissions to individual reports among the MR users by using folders in the Report Viewer. Is this still possible? I suspect not since Report Viewer is not there anymore but is there an alternative?
You can "modify" each user in Report designer and adjust permissions to the reports on a general level. We do not have the "old" functionality from Management reporter available any more.
you can assign permission to MR per user per report or Report folder.
and for Dynamics 365, you can find financial reports on budgeting and GL
I know that you can restrict other from maintain specific reports, but does it also prevent users from generating the financial reports in D365?
Hi Mahmoud, can you tell me how to assign permission per user per report or Report folder please? Thanks.
If any one has answer to this question, please type in here as we also facing this challenge in one of our customer for D365 FO on cloud. Since there is no more report library option available in D365 MR, we are not able to restrict report in one company by user or user group. However, we can still restrict users to run reports in different companies by using Reporting tree but if one user has access to one company and that company got 10 reports, we can not restrict user of that company to use only 1 report.
Hi guys, any news on this one? We are facing the same challenge. Can´t believe MS took this functionality away from us lol.
Also, couldn't make the restriction per organization tree work. Do you have any helpfull link for this? I tried to follow this one, but can´t find the same fields. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/unified-operations/dev-itpro/analytics/financial-reporting-tree-definitions#create-a-reporting-tree-definition
Any tip or help will be very much appreciated!
We can design such security through XDS Security Policy. In the latest D365FO, all the financial reports entries get stored in FinancialReports table of AX database unlike AX 2012 where all the entries used to be stored in the reporting database. I have done the proof of concept. Will be sharing a blog post to demonstrate shortly.
We ultimately needs to design this via modifying code or creating new customization which was not the way in earlier versions of Dynamics AX 2012 as it was available in the report library section of the MR. Even i have raised this issue to Microsoft support earlier and they confirmed that the functionality to restrict MR reports by user or user group has been deprecated in the current version of MR in D365 Finance and Operations. I have also seen that other functions of report schedule also been deprecated in MR in D365. Not sure, what MS is planning as a future of MR. Whether they are replacing MR with Power BI or introducing any other reporting tool !
Just blogged the solution for the issue discussed here. At least we can enforce the security through XDS if it is not configurable out-of-the-box.
