Today I deployed report in Test environment and while Applying package below error appears. (see screen shot)
It says test environment is of platform version Update 31 and Our Package is of Update 21. Package is not compatible with app8.1+ environment.
Ensure package is built for app 8.1+ environment,
Report is developed in Dev environment which has Update 21. I checked production environment and it has Update 29.
How to fix this kind of version conflict?
What is the app version (not PU) of your build system? Your build system should have the same major version (for example 10) as the traget system where you deploy the code.
PU21 has been out of support for some time. Update / redeploy your dev and build systems.
Had this problem before while deploying a package from Platform Update 20 to Pu29. It failed multiple times for me. I had a peer who was able to deploy the same package successfully from PU24 to an UAT Environment that had PU29 setup. Based on this finding, I upgraded myPu20 environment to PU25. I was able to deploy the same package (with some modifications) again to PU29.
As Nikolaos suggested, update your environment that has PU21 setup. I would suggest build the package in an environment that has either PU24 or a higher version.
Hope you are building the packages from Azure DevOps using CI/CD and not from Visual Studio directly.

Thanks. Actually I am building packages through visual studio directly. Can you give some link or video where I can learn to build package from Azure devops using ci/cd.
For build packages from Azure DevOps using CI/CD, use the following references:
Thanks for the link. I will look into it.
In mean-time I tried to update Dev environment from update 21 to update 31. Below error comes. I tried resume still it failed. what might me the reason.
What's error message in the log file?

For major updates you need to redeploy the dev system. For example you can't update a dev system from 8.0 to 10.0. And I think even 8.1-10 update requires deploying a new dev system.
Once you are in V10 = One Version you can always just apply latest MS updates to the system without needing to redeploy.
