Over the last year our data export service profile has grown significantly due to increasing reporting requirements, linking data to websites etc.
With that, the number of times that I have had to reset the profile due to failed syncing has also increased. Normally that's not a problem since the process of resetting is straightforward.
But I have had to get Microsoft support involved on multiple occasions when the profile was "stuck" and needed to be removed by a support engineer. Each time I was told that the profile was fairly large (1.7 million records and growing) and perhaps I should think of reducing the entities replicated. Well, what do I do if I need all of those these entities replicated?
So my question is, have you had a similar experience, and if so, what did you do? Also, are there any better alternatives out there that I should be looking at?
Data Export Service is a pain for every consultant/Architect. We have used this in our previous project and result was nightware.
Every time we do deployment, we faced sync issue and had to recreated profile. Atfer every 15 days sync failure happens due to a reason that can only understood by microsoft.
We have also followed the same approach as to raise support ticket with microsoft for the issue.
As of now I don't see any other alternative to replicate Online data to downstream application.

It's great when it works, but it feels a bit flaky that it will suddenly stop working with the only explanation being that you "might have too much data" in the profile.
