When using the D365 App for Outlook and Regarding emails, is it possible to have the email *only* track to the Regarding record and NOT any of the related activity parties ("To or "CC" Contacts)?
For example, if I'm sending an email to Contact 1 at ABC Company, and I "Set Regarding" to the Account "ABC Company". I also "CC" Contact 2 and Contact 3. When I regard that email, today it appears in 4 different timelines in D365 (ABC Company, Contact 1, Contact 2, and Contact 3). Is there a setting to have the email ONLY appear in the ABC Companies timeline; only in the record that I "Set Regarding" to?
Unfortunately, it is impossible.
Emails appear in the timeline of Contacts because To, CC are Activity Parties of Activity. This is the mechanism of the Activity in D365, all Activities follow this mechanism, and has nothing to do with whether this Activity is tracked from Outlook or not.
Tracking email from Outlook is actually creating a new email in D365, nothing more.
So first of all, we can't modify this mechanism. Secondly, even if we modify it, then all emails do not appear in To, CC Contacts, and not only for emails tracked from D365 App for Outlook.
