We have a requirement that our client want to use multiselect field for owner selection. we all know that currently we use lookup field for owner selection. But they wanted to select multiple owner in multiselect field only. They are not ready to use teams for owner selection.
Thanks in advance.
Owner is a Lookup field which lookup to "systemuser" Entity , and this lookup couldn't be or transferred to Multi Select.
so, my Suggest here to work with Teams, and fill this teams with the owners, I think this is the possible things as I think till now.
You should try with them to work with Teams.
Thank you for your query.
What is your scenario? What are you trying to achieve?
If you need to assign a record to multiple users, you should use teams.
If the purpose is to share a record between multiple users, the user Sharing feature instead.
If the purpose is to add multiple users on a record (for example more than 1 users work on an opportunity), you need to create a 1:N relationship between your entity and SystemUser entity, then add a sub-grid.
The Owner field in Dynamics 365 which is used to assign a record to a User or Team applies to any Entity created in CRM where the 'Ownership' is set to User or Team. Also, Share and Assign functionality for records only relates to this Owner field. So, even if we replace this Owner lookup with a new custom multi-select field it will not be work similarly to the owner field. Therefore, to associate multiple users as Owners to a particular record it would be the best approach to use the Team and add multiple users within that Team.
