My client has around 500 customers and vendors and now they would like to use the AX-CRM functionality.
The business relations form doesn’t show any Customers or Vendors, please advise in AX2009 is there any job that can be run which automatically creates the Business relation and link it to the Customer or Vendor?
I am aware that from the Customer or Vendor form, user can manually create the Business relation but I would like to know the automatic process.
The business relation form is used to track relations which can LATER be converted to customers / vendors. There is no out of the box job that will create the actual relation for you but you can use out of the box import / export functionality to automatically create records for you. From there you can also call the method that creates the customer or vendor account from your business relation. In 2009 it is the button on the form. Functions > Create Vendor or Create Customer.
So in summary, you can modify AX to do this for you if you really want it to.
Hope this helps!
Thank you Kent,
We had thought about this process, however I have some additional queries:
If we manage to import the Business relation in the AX:
1. They will be of type Prospect, as I believe we cannot create Customer or Vendor records directly in the Business relation form.
2. Once we import all the Prospect in the AX, we still need to manually link them to the existing Customers/Vendors records and that would be time consuming.
You have also specified a method in the above response, “….From there you can also call the method that creates the customer or vendor account from your business relation…” Please can you elaborate this method, are you referring to Function> Convert to Customer/Vendor button on the Business Relation form?
Thank you and Regards,
