Hello - is it possible to add one field to the bank journal (journal trans) which can still be adjusted after a booking was posted. My idea is to use 15 categories of cashflows from which I can weekly make a Cashflow statement.
Usually the LedgerJournalTrans table is locked after posting. Within a customization it is possible to allow one field to be editable. If you look at the customer transactions, some fields are editable while the others are read only, so it is possible. For changes on your new field you have to bypass the check that posted journal lines cannot be changed. But I wonder if this table will be the most appropriate place to add new field.
You used the Management Reporter as tag. Is it also related to this product? Please elaborate more on your requirement. We might be able to help you finding the best place to add this field.
Thanks Andre - your reply is useful.
Let me start at the beginning. I need to provide to some stakeholders direct method cashflow statements. I'm have created a view in AX and in Excel I use a query to update my data in a pivot table.
Of course I have to label each bank movement and I have chosen to use the ledger account category (linked to each ledger) to set up 15 different categories.
Now I have added this ledger account category to the ledgerjournaltransdaily (bank journal) but the issue is that it can not be adjusted later on (and many times initially people choose a wrong category).
Are you able to help us to make allow one field to be editable in LedgerJournalTrans ?
Please note that forum participation is voluntary. I'm able to answer some questions, but I'm not going to provide full solutions. But I would like to give you some insights.
Let's start with the table you used. You have now created a view on a table for reporting purposes. Note that this table is a worksheet table/line and might be deleted after posting. The setting might restrict the deletion, but someday someone might touch something and the report is not reliable anymore. Also it is possible to cleanup this table. So be careful using this table for management reporting.
There are some restrictions on the journal lines to have them editable. One of them is a check if the journal is posted. It is possible to set one field to be editable, but it requires some coding. When you are able to change, at time of saving the record again the check if the journal is posted is executed.
Probably an edit method will be the best solution. This field is editable and within some x++ statements it is possible to bypass the checks.
As told in the start, I'm not going to fully explain all coding in detail on this forum. You can either do it yourself if you have development skills or find someone who can do it for you.
Dear Andre - thanks for your guidance.
