Is there a way to use an import tool to create large volumes of picking locations using excel or a crt file? I am setting up a new warehouse and will need 1600 new pallet locations. I do not want to type in all of them individually or it will take forever. I use an upload tool to upload journal data, and wondering if there is a way to do the same type of thing for locations.
You can use DMF to import this data, there are 2 entities out of the box:
DMFWMSLocationEntity to upload locations
DMFWMSPalletEntity to upload pallets.
We don't have DMFWMSLocationEntity or DMFWMSPalletEntity in 2012 R3 CU9, is that part of a later CU?
I suggest you to consider using standard AX functionality to create locations in bulk.
Kindly try using warehouse management > setup > warehouses > location setup wizard.
You can make n number of locations for any location profile using this wizard. You just need to decide the location format that will be used for the locations and AX will create all locations automatically.
so if you want locations PL 01 to PL 1600 in warehouse W 7 make a location format PL## and the attach the same to location profile for pallet locations.
Now use location wizard to make locations from PL 01 to PL 1600 automatically for pallet location profile.
Its easy and the best way to make locations in bulk.
