We have Dynamics AX 2012 R3 CU 9 and we are using project budgeting with allow overruns.
If we have a project with categories A, B, C and D (Valid and Assigned) then we created an original budget for categories A and B only we can post post transactions using categories A, B, C and D.
According to our business needs, this scenario is Ok to avoid obstructing the daily business process and that is why we are allowing budget overruns.
But once creating a budget revision and adding category C (which is not listed into the original budget), we are not able to post on C category if the revision status is (Created / Submitted) and we are getting an error message 'Budget has not been adjusted correctly'
On the other hand, if we tried to post using category D which is not listed into any budget it is posting normally with no error.
Is it logic !! Where it is affecting our daily business process and we would like to understand the concept of this scenario if it is the default scenario and there is no bug.
AX2012 R3 CU9 was released in 2015.
Since that time a lot of hotfixes that are related to issues with the project budget revision function have been published on LCS.
To me it looks as if you run into one of those old issues that are already fixed.
Is it possible for you to upgrade to the latest R3 build?
Alternatively, go through the list of hotfixes and identify all of the ones that seem to be related to project budget revision issues.
Thanks for your reply, I already checked the LCS for known issues before and I found Issue 3736594 that supposed to be matched to my case but unfortunately the code changes only the error message that the end user will get while posting a journal.
Also the description of the problem into LCS is not clear if it is matching my case or not.
We also found another Issue 3743294 which supposed to be related to the same issue but its description is not clear too.
To me this 'smells' like a bug. Can you possibly try to contact the MS support to get their confirmation and provisioning of a new fix?
