Working on a purchase requisition workflow in AX 2012. I want to design a line workflow that checks if a field (financial dimension) is blank to prompt for an action and disallow approval.
Tried using the following, to no avail:
is value blank, is value, is value "", is value '', is value " ", is value ' ', is value null, is value isnull, is value <>
also tried with is not variation... test fails.
I also have a similar problem.
I wanted to put a condition on the workflow to identify whether project id field is NULL on PO.. Tried " " and NULL.
Did not work. Any suggestions?
I am also wanting to identify the project field being null... but it's not working.
Apparently it works for other workflows in the GL module, but not for these fields... do you think this is a bug?
Could you please tell me which workflow in GL you setup and is checking the null value. When I test the null value condition in workflow it fails for me. If you can tell me then we could atleast conclude that it is a bug.
I am not sure which workflow it was, but I am certain he was no filtering for financial dimensions. It was another field, and it worked. For some bizarre reason, financial dimensions and project IDs (and maybe more) cannot be filtered for Null.
In my humble opinion this is a bug as it goes against standard computing and SQL conditions.
Please check the following Class and method: SysExpression.getDisplayValuesFromRecID()
is the method returning a displayValue?
If not, you can debug it within this class method.
I had some success using: is value <blank>
We've had success in using conditions on projects using the "is not" functionality in combination with an empty Project Id value. (put a space in and then delete the space)
However we have typically written our own Yes/No conditions in the workflow document class. e.g. parmIsProjectRequisition etc. You should be able to use this for the dimension option above as well
In my case for WF in expense reports, I just used "is value" and one blank space in the field value.
In the condition instead of "value" use "field" and in the comparison operator use value "is" and select a field which you are not using in your implementation and you know it is going to be blank all the time. For e.g.
Purchase orders.DefaultDimenions.Department is field Purchase orders.Port
In the above example if the department dimension is blank then the condition will be evaluated as true else if department as a value then it will be evaluated as false.
