The Update Fields Based on Activity in CRM workflow in Microsoft Dynamics 365 solves another common challenge for D365 users.
When an activity is completed, automatically update fields on regarding record. For example, when an Appointment is marked complete, update the Last Meeting/Visit Date field on the regarding Account or Lead.
Sales, customer service, management, and more departments will benefit. All departments in your organization may find value in this workflow.
User-level knowledge is required to set up this workflow.
To set up the Update Field Based on Activity in CRM workflow, follow these steps:
1. Trigger: Record is Created

2. Click “Select this row and click Add Step” and click Add Step > Wait Condition

3. Click <condition>(click to configure)

4. Add Filter for Appointment Status Equals Completed

5. Click “Select this row and click Add Step” and click Add Step > Update Record

6. Select the appropriate record and Set Properties as desired to update fields on the record. Save and close.

7. Click on the word Wait in the Wait Condition and click Add Step

8. Select Parallel Wait Branch

9. Click <condition>(click to configure)

10. Add Filter for Appointment Status Equals Canceled
This prevents the workflow from waiting indefinitely if the appointment is canceled rather than completed.

11. Click “Select this row and click Add Step” and click Add Step > Stop Workflow


12. Activate your workflow
