[Blog Series] SSRS Report generation using Email and Power Automate with SharePoint- Part 1
Dear Microsoft BizApps Community,
Welcome to my next blog series on using Power Automate flow to generate ANY SSRS report in a SharePoint folder, also the same SSRS report will be sent to Finance Reporting team automatically using power platform.
Let’s explore
In this blog series, we shall see three solutions all together, those are as follows
- Dynamics SSRS report will be automatically generated from system and will be sent to user/Finance Manager/Admin in required intervals
- Power Automate flow will send those generated reports in required SharePoint folder
- Power Automate flow will send those reports to all respective users once the file is created in SharePoint
The above solutions can be used standalone or can be used together.
Solution 1- Dynamics SSRS report will be automatically generated from system and will be sent to user/Finance Manager/Admin in required intervals
Business Scenario- For our case, we shall select “Customer Account Statement”, our requirement is, this report will be generated on weekly twice and will be sent to Finance manager via email automatically, thus Zero human effort
Pre-requisite-
- To send email from Dynamics 365 F&P, exchange or SMTP setup must be configured, by which email can be sent from Dynamics.
- To Send email from D365 FO, Email distributor batch must be already setup
To configure SMTP setup, I wrote another blog here, you can review the same Blog to setup SMTP Email confg
Configuration-
Navigate to any SSRS report, our case “Customer Account Statement” from Accounts Receivable module- Inquires and Reports
Now select the filter to run the report, note- we need to make a filter which will run each time for future as well, see below
Now navigate to destination ->>> Change
Select “Email from the list, see below
Now, we need to setup the email template such as Subject of the future emails, recipient of the emails and format of the report
Once the above setup is done, we need to select the “Batch processing” to yes, this will make sure, Dynamics generate this report in batch and send in email
The recurrence I have selected as follows, the report will be generated in Monday and Friday in a week.
Once done, select ok, system should automatically create the recurring job for this report and run on scheduled day in future.
Result- See below, every Monday and Friday, user should get the report generated from D365 Automatically,
This is it for this blog, thank you for watching.
IN next blog, we shall complete this blog series.
