MSDyn365F&SCM: License plate grouping policy
In case you receive an order for the group of products, unlike scanning each individual product, you can group license plates for the products normally purchased together and quickly scan only one license plate. When you use license plate grouping, dedicated barcode or RFID tag can be placed on the container, so that a single scan identifies and tracks every item within that container.
Use License plate grouping policy to determine how received items are grouped into license plates. There three options available out-of-the box.
None | Share one license plate across all items being received. All the items will be received in a single license plate
|
License plate grouping | Multiple license plates based on the Unit sequence group. Items will potentially be split into multiple license plates, depending on the setup of the license plate grouping for the unit sequence group. |
User defined | Splits received items based on the quantity and unit defined by the user during receipt on the mobile device.
Items will be split based on the quantity and unit that is selected during the receipt. For example, if the quantity is 4 and the unit is pallet (PL), then four license plates will be created as 1 PL. |
There is pre-requisite required for the License plate grouping option – Unit sequence groups.
In the Warehouse management > Setup > Warehouse > Unit sequence groups you can setup which Units of measure are (like Pieces and Boxes are) meant to be grouped onto Pallets for license plating. In my example, Pallets are not designed to be grouped together (note the box License plate grouping is not checked for the Unit type Pallet (PL).
This Unit sequence group is assigned to the item being used in this walk-through.
For this example, we have the following unit conversions for the item.
Let’s create three purchase orders and use different License plate grouping policy for each purchase order.
In all three cases we will be receiving 2 pallets.
Set License plate grouping policy = None in the Mobile device menu item.
Next, log in to Mobile device and use Purchase Receive LPG menu item to receive the goods. After entering purchase order number, enter item number and received quantity. Assume that we are receiving 2 pallets, so we will enter 2 PL in the mobile device.
Once it’s done, navigate to the Work that has been created. Since License plate grouping policy was set to None, only one work and target license plate for the received quantity has been created. You may notice that Work quantity is 2 and unit is PL.
In the next scenario, we will be receiving the second purchase order but License plate grouping policy will be changed to License plate grouping beforehand keeping in mind Unit sequence group configuration. In this case we expect splitting into multiple license plates based on the number of pallets.
Log in to Mobile device and using the same mobile device menu item, enter purchase order number, enter item number and received quantity. Assume that we are receiving 2 pallets, so we will enter 2 PL in the mobile device.
As the result, different works and target license plates are being generated per each pallet.
In the next scenario, we will be receiving the third purchase order but License plate grouping policy will be changed to User defined beforehand.
In this case we expect splitting into multiple license plates based on the quantity and unit of measure defined upon purchase receipt in the mobile device.
Log in to Mobile device and using the same mobile device menu item, enter purchase order number, enter item number and received quantity. In this scenario, we will change Unit to BOX and set the quantity to 4 that is equal to 1 PL.
As the result, different works and target license plates are being generated per each BOX.
I hope I made it clear!
