I Passed MB-220 (Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Marketing) Today. Here is How I Did It and Why I Was Over-prepared.

I came back from the examination centre and I am happy to say that I just passed MB-220 (Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Marketing). Here is how I did it.

Microsoft Learn

In this certification cycle, this was the first time I passed an examination that graduated from beta. Therefore, I had access to the full-fledge learning material on Microsoft Learn. Compared to the old Dynamics Learning Portal, it is already a massive improvement. Not only it is available for free to the general public, but the test candidate is not forced to sit through hours of videos. It becomes easier to go through smaller bits, one at a time.

You can access Microsoft Learn here.

Differences Between Beta and Regular Examinations

If you take an examination in beta, you will have a lot more questions than what the regular examination contains. After all, Microsoft is testing their questions on you. In this examination cycle, I changed the practice examinations on MS Dynamics Certified to have a structure similar to the beta examination. Luckily for my students, they now have the equivalent of 4 practice examinations per course because I passed the examination in beta.

This is what I believe to be the main reason of why I was over-prepared: I practiced almost any question that could potentially be on the actual examination.

Practicing in a Sandbox Instance is Now More Important than Ever

Due to the new question types that Microsoft introduced in this cycle, you should be able to remember the navigation and steps required to create or modify a record in Microsoft Dynamics 365. This is why you should get access to a sandbox instance when preparing for an examination.

If you are interested to get the course for MB-220 (Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Marketing) from MS Dynamics Certified, you can find it here.
