Save pre filled values when creating new record - Record templates

Record templated in D365 F&O helps you to create record quickly and to share information with other records. For example, imagine you are entering rental information for a car rental business that is in San Francisco. Since most of the customers are likely to be from the San Francisco area, it would be nice if you could automatically fill in the values for the StateCountry, and City fields on the rental form. You can create record templated in the respective forms. Navigate to any forms >> Select Options >> Record Info >> This will open a new form with all the details related to the selected record. Refer to the below form.

You will be having two options to create record templates.

Company account template – This template will be available to all the users in the organizations.

User template – This template will be available only to the user who create it.

For example, when we click on Company account template to global a below screens will appear where you need to give the Name and description of the template.

After giving the related data and click on ok you have created new record templated. So now when you create new customer it will ask you to select the record templated before opening the actual customer creation form. Once you have selected the templates the values will be defaulted to newly created customer.

This functionality is very useful when you are creating records which are like each other so you can share them.
