Where has the € gone? Troubleshooting suggestions for when the € does not print on your Word Templates.
Hello Community,
Recently we have had a few cases come in where you are unable to print the EURO (€) sign on any Word Templates.
I have included below a screenshot of a SOP Blank Invoice Form printing € incorrectly (little square).
I wanted to offer some troubleshooting suggestions that I hope will aid you toward a resolution.
• Add the € character to the template manually by clicking ALT+0128.
• Try changing the operating system’s Regional Settings to be English (US)
• Try changing the keyboard input to be English (US)
• Change the default language listed in Microsoft Office to English
• Does the symbol print correctly in WordPad?
• Does the original template/report writer report print correctly?
• Attempt to print the report writer to an xml file and review it. Do you see the currency symbol?
• Does this occur for all GP users?
• Does this occur on multiple GP machines?
• Have you verified the currency selected to print (originating vs. functional)?
I have also seen this issue occur when users are running an older operating system, specifically Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012. If this is your case, then I would recommend considering upgrading your operating system or at least testing the issue on a more recent operating system.
Thanks for taking the time to read my blog, I hope the information provided has been helpful to you.
Until Next Time,

Hi There,
Did you ever sorted out this, I have exact problem on windows 2012 RDS and euro symbol wont print on the word template.
-
Our customer has this issue - GP16, Euro works in standard form, and when using Alt+0128 on template. But on their Windows 2012R2 RDS cloud server it prints boxes on the template and not Euro symbol. I bring the standard modified form and template local to my Windows 10 machine and it prints fine on the template. They will not update their O/S just for a symbol not printing - is there anything we can do to address this? They are US-English regional settings. Everything else on list seems ok except O/S version. Please help! We don't want to tell them they need to upgrade their O/S and this ends up not working again... Thanks! Althea
