8 of the Most Underutilized Dynamics 365 Sales Features

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales is an amazing technology that can help you improve your sales team’s productivity, gain holistic business insights, tailor the buyer’s journey, drive innovations, and so much more.

Despite what’s possible with the technology, there are a number of awesome features that go underutilized.

Don’t let your organization fall into this!

Make the most of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales, and don’t forget to use these features in full capacity. Boost your ROI and drive real results for your business.

  1. Unified Interface

The classic web interface is deprecated as of December 1, 2020. The new Unified Interface provides an optimal viewing and interaction experience for any screen size, device, or orientation. Whether you are using a browser, tablet, or phone, you will be able to consume similar experiences.

The new UI uses model-driven apps to increase productivity as Users only see the entities, forms, views, dashboards, etc. that are included in the app. Access to the app is determined by security roles.

  1. Mobile and Tablet Apps

An updated user interface means that the look and feel on mobile and tablet apps are the same as on the desktop.

This makes it easy for on the go updates and for referencing CRM data. The new Unified Interface uses responsive web design principles to provide an optimal viewing and interaction experience for any screen size, device, or orientation.

  1. Dynamics 365 Sales Insights:

Assistant

Keeps an eye on daily actions, communications and helps users stay on top of the day with insight cards

Examples of insight cards that can be enabled:

  1. Upcoming meetings
  2. Reminders (activities due today, the close date on opportunity approaching)
  3. “Stale” records (no recent activities for Contact, Opportunity, Lead, account or Case)
  4. Email reminder (you set follow-up reminder for email recently sent)

Auto Capture

This feature finds activities by applying a set of rules specific for the record time. Example: When you are on an Account in CRM, the timeline will show all activities logged in addition to emails and meetings from Outlook that were not logged into CRM based on Primary Contact for Account and the top 50 Contacts that have the Account listed as Parent Account. It searches the To, CC, or From on each email/meeting.

These auto-capture activities are private/visible to only the user logged in and will display as untracked.

You can choose to track them into CRM directly from the timeline.

Email Engagement

Allows you to see when recipients of emails opened a tracked email, clicked a link, opened an attachment, or sent a reply.

You can schedule emails to send at the most effective delivery time based on the recipient’s time zone.

You can set alerts to remind you when it is time to follow-up on an email message

  1. Outlook App

The new Dynamics 365 App for Outlook allows for email and appointment tracking into Dynamics 365. You can use this App in Outlook on the web or on your desktop or mobile device.

  1. Duplicate Detection

Data quality directly impacts user adoption. Using the duplicate detection functionality in Dynamics provides an automated way to maintain the integrity of your data. Rules can be set up based on criteria in the system and duplicate detection will be run each time records are created to alert you of a duplicate entry. Duplicate detection can also be run as a job across your CRM system to identify duplicate records in bulk.

  1. Goals

Goals can be configured for each user based on the number of client meetings, qualified Leads, won Opportunities, etc. they are working to achieve for a specific timeframe (quarterly, annually, etc.)

  1. Recently Viewed Records

Navigate quickly back to the records you’ve recently worked on

  1. Pinned Records

Easily access records you’re visiting often in Dynamics 365
