Dynamics CRM Quick Tip – Embed Charts into Forms

jlattimer Profile Picture jlattimer 24,562

Time for another Microsoft Dynamics CRM Quick Tip from Ledgeview Partners! Today, we will show you how easy it is to embed charts into forms within Dynamics CRM.

It’s common practice on a Dynamics CRM form to display a sub-grid of related records. The contacts related to an account or the line items for a quote are a couple of common examples. But sometimes all the detail associated with a list of records isn’t needed. If this is the case using just a chart might be a better option to give a quick visual summary of the information. Luckily getting a chart onto the form based on one of the sub-grids is a piece of cake.

Add the sub-grid to the form like you normally would, but this time scroll down to the bottom of the properties window and look for the chart options. Choose which chart you want to display initially and check the option ‘Show Chart Only’.

Once you save and publish the form you should see your chart instead of the list of records. One other tip, you may need to adjust the height of the chart back in the properties window under the formatting tab. Setting the number of rows to between 10-14 usually gets you a good result without taking up too much space.
