Exporting and Importing Financial Report Configuration from Management Reporter in D365 Finance and Operations
Dear Microsoft BizApps Community,
Welcome to my blog on Management reporter (Financial reports), here in this article we shall see how to export one configured report from one environment and will import in required environment, production as example.
Scenario 1
Almost in every implementation or live project, there must be Financial Reports, known as management reporter, hence we always need to create the report in UAT or any other environment other than production and after the Sign off from users, we need to deploy the same report/reports to production.
How to take the report configured in other than production to production? We shall see that below
Scenario 2
We are working on report and not fully completed or yet to receive feedback from users, however there is a Database restore plan into the same environment, hence our report also will be removed, for this case, we have to take the back up of MR and after the refresh we have to import/restore the same.
Lets explore and play around this
Export From environment
Open the report designer->> Navigate to Company->> Select Building Block groups
See below
Now the new window will open as below, now select export.
Now we have the options to select report or multiple reports by using ctrl in keyboard, or we can select all using “Select all” option shown below.
Note- Related row definitions, column definitions, reporting tree definitions, and account sets will be selected automatically.
Once selected, click on “Export”- we can keep it in our local drive in any folder, it will save as tdbx file.
Import to the environment
Now we shall import the exported report as tdx file.
Go to the environment where you want to import the exported reports.
Open the MR designer->> Navigate to Company->> Select Building Block groups->> Now we need to click on Import.
Now we need to select the exported file from the local drive we kept.
Once selected and open->> system will ask to import the reports similarly to the export window->> from here we can select report or select all and import.
Once imported the report will be visible to the Financial reports/ management reporter.
That’s it for this article, thanks for going through.
Happy days
