The provider ‘SQLNCLI10.1’ is not registered

When trying to process a new installation of Analysis server with the AX anaylsis entensions installed, you may get the following error message: The provider ‘SQLNCLI10.1’ is not registered.

The problem is caused because the analysis server requires the SQL 2008 components to be installed to work with AX 2012. These can be found below:
