How to copy a Workflow in Dynamics CRM

sharma.sandeep82 Profile Picture sharma.sandeep82 743

The other day we have to create a workflow which was very complex, but almost similar workflow we had already created. So, we were looking for the OOB copy functionality, but didn’t find the same. I started looking for the solution and found that there is a way we can copy the workflow. The following steps we have to follow in order to copy the workflow in Dynamics CRM.

  1. Deactivate an existing workflow which you want to copy.
  2. Change the “Activate As” field value to “Process template” (refer Fig. 1).

(Fig. 1)

  1. Activate your existing workflow.
  2. Create a new workflow and choose the “Type” field value as “New process from an existing template (select from list)” and click on OK (refer Fig. 2).

(Fig. 2)

  1. New workflow is created and you can make the changes as per the requirement.
  2. Deactivate an existing workflow and change the “Activate As” field value back to “Process” and click on “Activate”
