Bring me back to life! – Restoring the D365 OOTB button to default version

innovativeaj Profile Picture innovativeaj 175

You must be a liar if you say that you haven’t ever faced or seen someone facing such issue where they have screwed the original OOTB button on the ribbon and now they want it back to the original version. So let’s get this issue fixed then!

Take a backup of your existing ribbon by exporting the solution containing the entity so that it is safe with you. This is the mandatory step, please be extra cautious when playing with ribbons!

Load your solution containing only the one relevant entity. Nothing more than the entity itself. Otherwise it will have issues in loading the solution.

This is the button that we are talking about. Notice the Tick mark which means this has been customized. Also, right click on the button and you will see the ‘Customise Button’ option has been disabled. This is because of the same fact that it has already been customized.

Click on the Save & Close Button

Now, click on the Solution Elements tab

Under the Buttons section, you will be able to see the Save & Close button highlighted already.

Now, right click on the Save and Close, and Delete it

The button has disappeared, it won’t show.

Publish your solution

Now reload your solution to see the button back in the ribbon. This time it will be an uncustomized, untouched button… the original one back to its place.
