Another release is on the way, and that means another blog series to help guide you through the upgrade process.

The first step in any successful upgrade is planning. Get this part right and the rest of the upgrade process becomes much easier. 

If you take one thing away from this post, let it be this:

Build a test upgrade into your process every time. No exceptions.

Part of that test is confirming that your databases upgrade successfully, but just as important is application testing.

If you use third-party products, customizations, modified reports, or integrations, each of them should be tested on the new version to verify everything continues to function as expected. Integrations such as eConnect, Integration Manager, or other integration solutions may require additional validation and testing after the upgrade.

Much better to discover an issue in a test environment than during a production upgrade weekend.
