Post#24: Clearing Usage Data & Cache

real_ashwin Profile Picture real_ashwin 1,225

There were many cases over the years in both AX4, 2009 and 2012 of issues that were solved with the simple clearing of usage data or deleting cache files.

I will try and list out some of those odd cases to help anyone else out in case they search:

  • An approver on clicking a work item to approve kept crashing her AX session.
  • On running a report a user received an error. “User is not authorize to update a record in table ‘TAXUNCOMITTED’. Request denied”

Here is how to clear the usage date in a few easy steps:

  1. Click on the File–>Tools–>Optionspost24_img1
  2. Now click on Usage data then the Reset button.Note: This will remove all user favorites and any personlization of forms/grid across AX.

Sometimes you may need to clear the cache files if you have an On-premise installation you can try deleting the auc files. To do so go to the user’s machine and navigate to “C:\Users\AppData>Local”. Now sort by file type and delete the AUC extension files only.

Note: If you do not see the appData folder you need to show hidden folders option in windows.

For hosted installations you can try deleting the remote desktop user and recreating the same.

Hope this helps. Keep AXing people.
