Mapping Lead Data to New Opportunities in Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a huge time-saver. Running this process will keep you from having to re-enter important information.
To map Lead Data in your system, you will need to have access to the customization section in Microsoft Dynamics 365. If you do not currently have access, to gain it all you need to do is contact your system administrator.
Follow these steps to Map Lead Data to New Opportunities in Microsoft Dynamics 365:
- From the gear icon, go to Advanced Settings > Settings > Customizations > Customize the System.
- Go to Entities, expand Leads, then Select “1:N Relationships.”
- Locate Opportunity (related entity) that includes the field name Originating Lead. Open the record.
- In the new window, select “Mappings.” This will show all of the items mapped from Lead to Opportunity.
- To create a mapping click “New”
- For this example, we are going to make the Parent Account for Lead lookup field map to a new Opportunity field called Secondary Account. After selecting the field names you want to map, click “OK.”
- PRO TIP: it is easier to find fields in the mapping lists by first clicking on the Display Name column to sort the names in order. Also, you can map one field in the source to more than one corresponding field type in the target entity. You cannot map multiple source fields to a single target field, however.
- Click “Save and Close” on the Relationship: Lead to Opportunity window.
- Publish All Customizations.
Now you are all set. When new Opportunities are created in Dynamics, you will see lead data automatically populate Opportunity fields where it is relevant.
