New capabilities available
QuickBooks Online Migration
You can now migrate your data in QuickBooks Online to Dynamics 365 for Financials effortlessly, including migration of the following company data:
- Accounts, vendors, customers, and items
- Beginning balance transaction for general ledger
- Open invoices, credit memos, and payments for customers
- Open invoices and payments for vendors
- Quantity on hand for inventory items
Transactions will be migrated in an unposted status so that they can be validated and posted by the user. This extension is accessible through the Data Migration Wizard.
Accountant Portal
This new extension enables accountants to manage their clients on Dynamics 365 for Financials. Through the Accountant Portal, accountants can access customer tenants directly and refresh their data. On the summary page, all client information and performance details can be seen at a quick glance. New clients can be added easily using the client cards.
A company who use Dynamics 365 for Financials can invite you to Financials as their external accountant. This requires an administrator to add your work email address to their Active Directory tenant, and we recommend that they contact their Financials partner for assistance.
Enter General Ledger, and other journals, in Microsoft Excel
The Edit in Excel functionality has been expanded to include fifteen new worksheet pages, including the General Journal. Using this functionality journal entries can be created in Excel to be published to Dynamics 365 for Financials.
Item Charges (Landed Cost)
You can now use item charges to assign costs such as freight, handling, or insurance to items in your inventory. These costs can be allocated equally across your inventory, or proportionally to the line amount (for example by weight or volume).
Item charges can be assigned to lines in purchase documents that have not yet been posted as fully invoiced—you can even assign costs to partially invoiced documents. When you receive separate invoices for item charges you can still assign these to purchase document lines that have already been posted as received or invoiced.
Create Purchase Orders for Missing Sales Quantities
You can now create purchase documents for missing item quantities on your sales orders and invoices directly. From sales orders, you can create purchase orders for each vendor of items on the sales order. The missing quantities on your sales order will be suggested automatically but can be edited before posting.
From sales orders and invoices, you can create purchase invoices. This function will automatically create a purchase invoices for a selected vendor for selected lines on the sales document—the full sales quantity is suggested in this case.
Lexmark ICS Vendor Synchronization
You can now synchronize vendors when using Lexmark ICS. Using this synchronization, you can improve the vendor recognition rate when processing printed invoices, and manually select the applicable vendor when training the application in new invoice layouts.
All your vendor details, including number, name, address, VAT registration, phone, and bank details are transferred to Lexmark ICS when synchronizing.
Invoicing for the Office 365 Bookings App
Users of the Office 365 Bookings app can now invoice bookings made through this app in Dynamics 365 for Financials. You can choose to invoice all bookings at once, to select specific bookings to invoice, or to invoice all bookings for a selected customer. Based on this choice one or more draft invoices will be generated to be sent to the customer.
CRM Synchronization Improvements
Dynamics 365 for Financials can now fully synchronize with Dynamics CRM automatically in the background. The CRM Full Synch. Review page shows the progress of all synchronization in a single place, listed per record type.
Additionally, the CRM Connection Wizard now lets you couple sales people—this is a prerequisite to enable almost all other synchronization and coupling between Dynamics CRM and Dynamics 365 for Financials.
Finally, several bugs and documentation issues have been fixed.
Availability of Financials in the UK
As we’re gearing up to launch Dynamics 365 for Financials in the United Kingdom, we are introducing features specifically for this market. The service now integrates with the HMRC GovTalk Service; users can now submit EC Sales Lists directly to HMRC.
