Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement: Inviting guest users with Azure Active Directory B2B collaboration
Part of administering Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement means managing user access. Users are normally added using the Office 365 admin center and while this is definitely a valid way of adding guest users, the down side is that the user will get a new username and password and has thus yet another set of credentials to safely store and remember. An alternative approach is using the Azure Active Directory B2B collaboration, which allows guest users to sign in to your Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement using their existing credentials. If the user doesn’t have a Microsoft account or an Azure AD account, one is created for them in a few easy steps.
This blog post runs you through the high level steps of adding guest users to your Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement. Microsoft has a good article with more in depth details at docs.microsoft.com so be sure to check that out as well.
Inviting guest users
1. Sign in to portal.azure.com -> select Azure Active Directory -> select users and groups.
2. Select All users -> New guest user.
3. Send the invitation to the guest user.
4. Click on the added guest user.
5. Add a First name, Last name and Usage location for the guest user.
6. Add a license by selecting Licenses -> Assign.
7. Add the desired license(s) -> Select.
8. Click on Assign to confirm assigning the license(s).
Additional considerations
- Your invited user will receive an email invitation to get started with B2B user collaboration.
- Remember to send the URL of your Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement instance(s) to the user.
- Each invited user needs to have a security role assigned to them in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement.
- You can easily remove licenses and revoke access on your Azure Portal at portal.azure.com.

I tried setting this up for business central, all looks good but I am getting this error. "We do not recognize you. Did you enter your credentials correctly? Your user name or password is incorrect, or you do not have a valid account in Dynamics 365 Business Central." I assigned a team license.
