Sometimes you might face a situation when the Customer you are working with is ready to provide you some services or sell items, thus acting as a Vendor. Standard NAV offers an option to create a Vendor card and then have purchasing transactions with the Vendor. However you might have a need of connecting this Vendor card to a Customer card as in reality this is one legal entity, and it might be useful to check the total balance of transactions between you and this entity.
One option is to try to connect them via contacts functionality, having the same contact for both Vendor and Customer card, however in Russian localization it is solved by more straight-forward customization.
In localized version, on the Customer card there are more fields added, in particular - Vendor code, which relates to the Vendor table, so user has an option to select a Vendor code, relevant to that Customer:
So there are few localization fields added in the Customer table:
Thus, you can have a link between the Customer and Vendor cards for the same legal entity and use that link in all related existing reports and customizable reports to get unified financial information for that legal entity.
E.g., there is a localization report called "Reconciliation Act", which shows the operations, invoices and payments, between you and your Customer. In the report selection window you can put a checkmark so that this report would show not only Customer transactions, but also related Vendor transactions, summing up the total for both cards.
This functionality can be considered when you have a need of linking Customer to Vendor cards.
