[Community] 3D print Face Shields
WA State 3D Face Shield hub, is a fast growing group of ~500 volunteers, with a mission to produce and deliver Face Shields to healthcare professionals, as an emergency stop-gap until supply is readily available. It mobilizes makers from across the state to 3D print frames, punch out visors, assemble and deliver completed face shield kits.
The group recently received NIH approval for their Face Shield design, which allows hospitals to accept these face shields. The design prints faster, is clinically tested and preferred by Healthcare professionals for comfort over long hours. In almost 4 weeks, as of April 24, confirmed 6261 delivered, with 2500 being delivered through Saturday, totaling 8761. Initially the group coordinated using multiple spreadsheets. The Power App is used to coordinate 300+makers, 40 drivers, 6 hubs, and a fulfilment center to streamline volunteer sign up, coordinate supply, delivery and production efforts. Time saves lives. Power BI reporting is used for tracking and regular status updates. The app streamlined the efficiency and is saving over 16 + hours a day of manual tasks a day for the core organizing team, and many more hours for volunteers.
