Dynamics GP: integration manager common error

Writing on the Bond Consulting Services blog, George Rios noted he recently came across a case where integration manager wasn't able to read any records even though the source file referenced in the integration was correct, and it contained valid data when the file was opened in Notepad.

Rios stated that when he tried to preview the contents of the file, he received the following message from the integration manager, "Query 'AP1' cannot be previewed due to the following problem: there are no columns defined AP1."

In his blog post, Rios explained what was causing the error.

Top Dynamics GP must have and nice to have features and functionalities

Writing on the Stoneridge Software blog, Allan Godfrey stated that companies can begin optimizing their Dynamics GP environments by developing lists of features and functionality that they must have and that are just nice to have.

Godfrey provided some questions organizations should ask when they're creating their lists of "must haves" to address their immediate needs. These questions include:

  • Do you have a proper security setup for your users within Dynamics GP?
  • Do you have some new team members in your company that need immediate training?
  • Do your AR, AP subledgers, and general ledger control accounts not balance?

He then offered examples of Dynamics GP features and functionality that are not essential but nice to have to help companies operate more efficiently, including:

  • SmartList Builder – this allows organizations to build lists that bring together module information and data in consolidated reports.
  • SmartConnect or Integration Manager – this enables organizations to streamline their entries and build imports from external databases in Dynamics GP.
