How to Change the Period status to Open from "Permanently Closed" in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations

Dear Microsoft BizApps Community,

Welcome to my blog on Ledger calendar, whereby any mistake any user or Consultant made the period to “Permanently closed”, can we make it Open once again? The traditional and orthodox answer is a BIG NO.

But Wait, I shall share the hack how to get rid of this, that too without any code or script, Sounds interesting isn’t it?

Lets play around this

First see the period is “Permanently closed” and we can not change this to Open once again

The below error will come

Now to get rid of this error we shall use a simple hack

Navigate to General Ledger Module->> Ledger Setup->> Ledger

Now in the ‘Fiscal Calendar’ field, select and change to another calendar and save (DO NOT RECALCULATE)

Now, again change to the previous calendar what was there as configured

That’s it, now lets see the result

See below the period is ‘Open’ and it’s a Hack

NOTE -I trust this is a gap in MS product and I still hack this by using 10.0.28 version.
