In case you need additional D365FO environments for demo or development purposes besides the Cloud-hosted environments, Microsoft also makes it very easy to deploy an on-premises D365FO OneBox development instance by offering a downloadable virtual hard disk (VHD) from the LCS Shared Asset Library.
- Go to the LCS https://lcs.dynamics.com/ main page and select Shared asset library
- Select the asset type Downloadable VHD.
- Find the VHD you are looking for based on the desired Finance and Operation version. The VHD is divided into multiple file parts that you need to download. For example, the asset files that start with "VHD - 10.0.9". There are sixteen different files you needed to install version 10.0.9.
- Download all files (parts) associated with the desired VHD to a local folder. You will need at least 45 GB of disk free space.
- After the download is complete, run the executable file that you downloaded, accept the software license agreement, and choose a file path to extract the VHD to.
- This creates a local VHD file that you can use to run a local virtual machine. You will need at least 115 GB of disk free space.
- Create a virtual machine. Open the Hyper-V manager and create the VM. It is recommended to be provisioned at least 16GB, 4 or more vCPU and internet connection for the Virtual Machine:
Running the virtual machine locally
Follow these steps to run the VM from Hyper-V Manager.
1. To start the VM, select Start.
2. To open the VM in a window, select Connect.

-
You can also start the service from the Services window.
6.Run the tool with Run as administrator privileges and enter your Office365/Azure AD username you want to use for login. (This step could take a couple of minutes).
7.Go to the browser, and navigate to the following URL:
