Business Central 28.0 Releases Soon
With Business Central version 27.4 (2025 release wave 2) just released, now is the time to look ahead to version 28.0 (the 2026 release wave 1). Microsoft’s update 27.4 documentation details the latest fixes and features. But the crucial point for partners and customers is that several optional features will become mandatory in the next release, and when these features become mandatory, they might disrupt extensions and apps. In practice, that means you should enable and test these features now via the Feature Management page, and update any extensions or customizations before the v28 rollout.
Upcoming Mandatory Features
The following features (currently optional) are slated to become mandatory in Business Central 28.0. They should be enabled and vetted in advance to avoid last-minute issues. Each entry links to the official Microsoft documentation for that feature.
All of these features are optional now and can be enabled on the Feature Management page. It’s highly recommended to turn them on in your sandbox or test tenant, and work with TrinSoft to update any extensions as needed before version 28 goes live. Reviewing and enabling the above features now will smooth your path to the next release.
